NICE group participates in Pacifichem 2015

Dr Ayomi Perera and Dr Han Wu will be representing the CNIE at The International Chemical Congress of Pacific Basin Societies 2015, also known as Pacifichem 2015.

The conference will take place at Honolulu, Hawaii, USA, from December 15th-20th, 2015. This is a prestigious event which is held for the seventh time, and is cosponsored by the Pacific Basin Chemical Societies. Founded in 1984, these conferences are held in Honolulu, Hawaii about every five years.

Dr Perera will be giving an oral presentation on 17th December, in the Materials and Nanoscience technical session, titled, “Synthesis optimisation of mesoporous Ti-silica microspheres for efficient oxidative and photocatalytic applications”.

Dr Han Wu will be presenting on 17th December "Crystallisation, melt racemisation, and polymorphic transformation of pyroglutamic acid"
Topic Area: (4) Organic; Symposium #398; ORGN 1365, Tapa Tower, Tapa Ballroom 2, Hilton Hawaiian Village.

She will use ARCHER supercomputer for 6 months to study behavior of biomolecules confined in ordered amorphous silica through all-atom molecular dynamic simulations with explicit water and counter-ions.The simulations will provide a better understanding of the interplay between the adsorbed proteins and mesoporous materials which is necessary to improve drug delivery systems by improving stability and controlled release of the active drug at the site of interest.
