Biography:

Han Wu obtained her BEng degree with first-class honors in Chemistry at HuaZhong University of Science and Technology (China) before moving to the University of Sheffield (UK), where she worked with  Prof. Tony West and Dr. Rile Ristic on polymorphism of pharmaceutical materials as a PhD student.

 

Han joined the Department of Chemical Engineering at UCL, where she was appointed as a Postdoctoral research associate by Prof. Alan Jones and Prof. Sally Price (Chemistry Department), working on an EPSRC-funded project ‘chiral resolution via crystallisation’ from February 2010. She obtained considerable experience in a wide range of techniques including X-ray Diffraction and Scattering using both in-house and Synchrotron facilities during her PhD and Postdoctoral research. She then joined Prof. Coppens’ NICE research group as a senior research technician in December 2013.

 

Han is currently managing the research facility for Department of Chemical Engineering and CNIE labs. She is also managing and providing a wide range of research service to research users at UCL and commercial users from industry. The service covers Small/Wide Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS/WAXS) Analysis, Thermal Analysis (TGA and DSC), Imagining Analysis (High Speed Camera and DLS) as well as Porosity Analysis (BET, MIP and Pycnometer). 

 

Professional Activities:

 

* Appointed as an expert and a committee member in particle characterisation committee for British standards BSI LBI37.

 

* Committee member in ISO/TC24/SC4 Particle characterization committee (in both working group 3-Porosity and working group 10-Small Angle X-ray Scattering), representing UK (BSI). Han is currently working on two new standards related to pore size measurement and surface area measurement by BET and SAXS methods. The appointment was made in Nov, 2017 when BSI  proposed Han as the UK expert to ISO.

 

* Guest Editor of Current Organic Chemistry for a thematic issue, entitled 'Recent development in the synthesis methods and characterization techniques of complex organic materials'. Tentative publication date: 2017.

 

* Member of British Association for Crystal Growth
